Oliver Glasner is a name under consideration at Newcastle United should they decide to part ways with Eddie Howe in the summer.

Newcastle United have not thought about sacking Eddie Howe, although that could be something the club might decide in the summer. Should they part ways with their long-serving coach, Football Insider reckons Oliver Glasner is a name under consideration at St. James’ Park to replace the Englishman.

A few Premier League clubs are expected to stay active in their pursuit of a new manager, with Crystal Palace right at the centre of it. Bournemouth were also expected to play a big role in the search for Andoni Iraola’s successor, but they have since reportedly agreed to bring Marco Rose to the helm, which exemplified quick thinking and decision-making
The same has been lacking over at Selhurst Park, who have not made a great effort to appoint a successor to Oliver Glasner. The Austrian tactician had long announced his intention to depart, which had opened speculation over a premature sacking during a period when Palace were underperforming.

Glasner is now set to see out the season and possibly even help the club win a European trophy, as he is yet to make a decision on his next club. There were links to Red Bull, who have plenty of top clubs under their blanket, and now Newcastle United are linked.
Newcastle United are set to consider Glasner as an option to replace Eddie Howe, should they end up parting ways with their long-serving manager. The Crystal Palace boss is not clear whether he would be open to taking over at St. James’ Park, considering he will have some high-profile clubs, possibly playing top-tier European football, seeking his signature.

Will Newcastle United sack Eddie Howe?
The early suggestions squarely pointed at Newcastle United having no plans to sack Howe, and that might be the case heading towards the summer window. However, results have not gone the way many would have wanted, and despite the insistence that Champions League football next season is not a factor in determining Howe’s future, things could change in a second over at St. James’ Park.

There is clearly a decision on Newcastle United’s hands over Howe, with the manager currently satisfied with his own work at the club. It remains to be seen whether they part ways to head in a new direction, in which case, Glasner might be one of the first names under consideration
